Amboseli National Park

Amboseli National Park, one of Kenya’s most iconic wildlife destinations, is famous for its magnificent herds of elephants and the breathtaking Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak. ‘Amboseli’ is a Maasai word meaning ‘salty dust’, somewhat appropriate as the park is known for being dusty in the drier months.

Officially gazetted as a National Park in Kenya early 1974 and subsequently declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1991.The park covers a relatively smaller area but boasts a wide variety of wildlife, including the endangered black rhino.

Amboseli National Park is located in southern Kenya in Kajiado County, bordering Tanzania. The region is closely associated with the Maasai people, whose culture and traditional way of life remain an important part of the area. From wildlife safaris and birdwatching to spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro and cultural experiences, Amboseli offers a distinctive safari experience in southern Kenya.
